29/06/09 3rd International Tidal Energy Summit November 2009
Aquscientific are to take their first exhibition stand at Tidal Today's international tidal conference in November. The team plan to display at least two prototypes and unveil plans for tidal energy farms in the Severn Estuary. Click for more info
20/06/09 Environment Agency Grants Consent
Aquascientific have been granted its final round of consents to begin testing of the 10KW prototype in Exmouth Estuary. Testing will begin in July.

01/06/09 Work begins on installing first sea going prototype.
Following the completion of the 3rd prototype, engineers have now begun transporting the device to its test site on the exe estuary. The device will be tested over the summer 2009.

The Severn Estuary Embryonic Technology Scheme (SETS) has announced that Aquascientific will go through to the last round of a £500,000 fund that seeks to explore alternatives to a severn barrage.

Alexei Janssen from Aquascientific has been included in a list of the top 500 entrepreneurs to watch in 2009. The list, sponsored by Courvoisier will be published in November in the Guardians weekend supplement.

05/09/08 Aquascientific prepares for investment
After a successful R&D phase, Aquascientific has begun to prepare the company to attract 2.5 Million pounds of investment to develop a 0.5 megawatt demonstrator, conduct further optimisation research and develop lifecycle routines.

01/07/08 Work begins on 3rd Prototype
Following the success of tank test at the University of Exeter, work has begun on our 3rd prototype. The device is due to be tested in the Exe Estuary in summer 09.
01/02/08 Aquascientific challenges the Severn Barrage Project.
Recent successful trials of prototypes have suggested that the MRev concept is ideally suited to deployment in estuaries and shallow water. With its minimal infrastructure, low environmental impact and ability to be deployed incrementally, we are now commissioning research into a comparative study as an alternative to the Severn Barrage Project. We expect to test our first MRev Estuarine Turbine at Exmouth in the Exe Estuary later this year.

01/06/06 Prototype completed and performs as expected.
The performance of the new MRev 3rd generation tidal stream turbine prototype has been wind-tunnel tested at Exeter University. The power output figures match those predicted by computer simulations.
14/06/06 Aquascientific applies for DTI grant.
Aquascientific have teamed up with lead partner IT Power to jointly apply for a research and development grant from the DTI. The project is planned to provide initial design optimisation data over the period '07-'08.
